Program Listing FAQs

Answers to common questions we receive from programs about their listings and how to make updates.

Why doesn’t my program appear in the search results when I enter my city and/or zip code?
We use Google Maps to locate and display programs in the search results. If you only enter a city or zip code, Google will select a “central” point and calculate distances from there. Using a complete address in your search will give you more accurate results.

How do I change basic contact information (name, address, phone number)?
Licensed and certified child care programs need to contact the appropriate licensing office (County licensors for family child care programs; Minnesota Department of Human Services for licensed and certified child care centers) to request changes to update basic program information. Programs should submit the following contact information:

  • License Name
  • Phone Number
  • Address
  • License Number

After the licensing office has received your request, it may take several weeks for the information to be processed and sent to Parent Aware and updated on the website.

For both family child care and center-based programs who have a registered Develop Organization Profile, you should update your address and contact information on the Organization Details tab in your Develop Organization Profile.

How do I change other information on my listing, like hours of operation, ages I serve, or my website address?
You can update information like this using the Parent Aware Update Tool. Keeping your business information updated is helpful to families looking for child care.

Who do I notify about openings at my program?

You can share and promote current openings in your program by using the Parent Aware Update Tool. Be sure to keep this information updated as openings are filled.

How do I add or change my Philosophy Statement?
You can update your Philosophy Statement directly in your Develop Organization Profile. After logging in, click on the Program Info tab, then the Philosophy Statement sub-tab. You can then click the edit button and make changes.

What if I’m an MDE program and I have changes in my site information?

Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) program types, including Head Start, Early Head Start,  School-Age Programs, and public school-based prekindergarten (which includes School Readiness Programs, voluntary prekindergarten, and School Readiness Plus), are asked to fill out the Parent Aware Addendum application with any site changes. Any changes to the coordinator name should be emailed to MDE at ParentAware.MDE@state.mn.us.
